After a way too early flight home, it was time for a relaxing trip to Santa Cruz. There, we found an awesome bookstore, with some new, but mostly used books, and we got some nice gems there for a really good price!
Day 176 - Multnomah Falls
Today we took a fantastic little trip down (or up, I guess) the Columbia River Gorge, with stops at Multnomah Falls, Hood River's very own Full Sail Brewery, and the Bonneville Dam.
This is an HDR shot of the falls, which are surrounded by lots and lots of very nice forest: The Oregonian rain clearly is good for something!
My photos of the entire extravaganza are online, because after venturing into the outside world, geeks always find back into the comforting, electron-infused arms of the good old Interwebs.
Day 175 - Career Alternative
Turns out, if the whole software business doesn't work out for me, I have a future in the water business. Given my catchy name and all, it's the coolest drink on the block.

Day 174 - What do you want the Web to be?
Successful way to engage the community at Mozilla's and Emma's shared Open Source Bridge conference party last night. What do you want the Web to be? A creative wish list for the future of the Web that we're planning to put back up at the Mozilla offices. For reference, you know. Thanks to everyone who participated!
Day 173 - Portland Food Carts
Day three of having lunch at food carts in Portland. I am baffled by the variety and quality of food offered on various street corners here. Makes me wish some of the mediocre-yet-expensive restaurants on Mountain View's Castro Street would make room for something like this.

Day 171 - Beautiful Macchiato
No need to bash that well-known coffee house chain from Seattle in this context, since they do a lot of things right, but in a place like Portland, Oregon, it would be plain sad to visit that one over the many excellent local coffee shops the city has to offer.
Like Barista, in Pearl District, where I got this prime specimen of a Macchiato, which tasted as phenomenal as it looks.
Day 170 - Un-unseeable
I am sorry, but you cannot unsee this: My hotel's closet greeted me today with not one, but two, horrendous bath robes: One zebra print, one cheetah. After I regained consciousness, I took a photo and posted it to the local support group for cheetah print victims Internet, like any reasonable individual would. You're welcome.
Day 169 - Arcade Hero
Didn't know there was an Arcade version of everybody's favorite modern party game! Now you too can pretend to be a musician (and, given that I'm not a guitar player, I am saying this in the nicest possible way ;))!
Day 168 - Prepared
Looks like we got our new patio furniture (small patio = small furniture) just in time for some fabulous Californian sunshine. Might need to add an umbrella so that my pasty, central European self doesn't end up looking like a roasted chicken...
